Dental veneers are a cosmetic treatment that improves the appearance of your teeth.
Cosmetic issues such as gaps, stains, chips and mild misalignments are all common causes of concern. Fortunately, these problems can all be resolved with dental veneers.
But is it worth the time and effort? The decision to undergo veneer treatment is very personal, and it depends on your particular aesthetic goals.
How long does the dental veneer procedure take?
If you choose to have porcelain veneers placed, you will need to come in for two separate appointments.
During the first appointment, your dentist will perform a check-up and clean and prepare your teeth ready for the veneers. The surface of your teeth will be reshaped, and some of your natural teeth will be removed to allow for the thickness of the veneer to look natural once it has been placed.
You dentist will also take impressions of your teeth before and after the enamel is removed. These impressions will be sent to a laboratory where your dental veneers will be fabricated. In the meantime, our team will place temporary veneers while you wait for your permanent veneers to be made.
When your permanent dental veneers have been fabricated and sent back to us, you will come in for your second appointment. At this time, your dentist will remove your temporary veneers and cement your custom-made porcelain veneers.
What issues can dental veneers resolve?
Dental veneers can be used to conceal a wide range of cosmetic imperfections. They are often a good option for individuals with the following:
- Stained or discoloured teeth
- Have unwanted gaps
- Worn down or chipped teeth
- Irregularly shaped teeth
- Minor misalignments
If you aren’t sure whether or not you are suited to dental veneers, we recommend that you arrange a consultation so that your dentist can advise you on a treatment plan based on your particular concerns and aesthetic goals.
